CAD Design and Drafting
The mechanical engineering and drafting group at PSL is experienced in design and construction of equipment for a wide variety of projects, ranging from simple to complex and multifunctional scientific instruments with precise mechanisms and demanding design requirements.
The drafting group at PSL has extensive experience in design and integration of complex systems. The drafting group uses the latest computer aided design (CAD) technology including solid modeling. PSL has both Autodesk Mechanical Desktop ® and Solidworks ® modelers. PSL takes particular care in documenting and archiving all project design details.
Analysis & Finite Element Analysis
PSL offers a wide portfolio of simulation and analysis services. Our staff is well versed in finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using ANSYS and SolidWorks products. We also have considerable expertise in computational modeling using tools such as Matlab and EES for thermal, fluid, and other systems.
Systems Engineering
PSL has the tools and expertise to design, integrate, and manage challenging interdisciplinary systems. We have delivered a hot water drilling system, including a full field site of mobile structures, to the South Pole in our IceCube Project, we manage a large test object cryogenic test bed with live electrical and structural monitoring systems in place, and have a long list of integrated systems for a broad swath of projects and clients.
