The Team continued to make good progress last week, but equipment problems during the Main Heating Plant Flush cost three days on this critical task. Delays to the flush also impacts progress on the Antarctic Rodwell Assembly and Tower Operations Site. We no longer believe we can complete all tasking, specifically related to the Tower Operations Site. We plan to continue pushing to minimize work that will roll into the next field season.
All Generators were winterized and moved to the Seasonal Equipment Site near the IceCube Lab.
ICU Team started MHP flush and pressure tests. MHP 3 was completed, but mechanical issues with the E-Pump cost multiple days of progress. The team addressed glycol suction issues, rebuilt the E-Pump Charge Pump, repacked the E-Pump High Pressure Pump cylinders, and diagnosed a failed pump O-Ring.
ICU Team installed and tested DGHs and sensors in MHPs 1 & 2, and started Y-Strainer preparation and installation.
ASC carpenters completed building and installing the Dog Houses protecting the Vertical Turbine Pumps.
ICU Team completed wiring all TOS 1 and TOS 2 Motor Drives.
ASC moved DCC to Cryo work site.
ICU Team installed motor drives, encoder cards, and E-Stop slap switch.
