Field Season 1 12-24-2024

Sixteen personnel are at Pole as of 12 December: Tony Carleton, Jeanne Edwards, Erik Ejdepalm, Skyler Grulke, Brent Folmer, Sarah Johnson, Jake Nesbit, Chris Nielsen, Tom Nordin, Dave Pernic, Chana Sinsabvrodom, Kurt Studt, Åse Torgilsson, Paul Wisniewski, Sam Wolcott, and Xu Zhai. Team members participated in the Station Talent Show, enjoyed an exceptional Christmas Dinner, and participated in the Race Around the World.

     

     

Successfully synched all three generators on the PDM.   All three generators were load tested through the PDM and work started to Winterize. Started installation of Vent Hoods. Station selected a new site for the Temporary Outfall and along with ICU personnel created an 84’ pilot hole using an auger system. ICU personnel drilled 41 meters into the firn using the IFD and installed a safety cover.

Worked on plumbing upgrades, fuel system upgrades, and prepared for system flush in the coming weeks. Also mounted Heater Controls and ran Network cables and started Network Testing. ASC Electricians and ICU team prepped the White Generator. Removed the old Hot Box Plumbing Manifold and installed the new Hot Box. ASC carpenters completed installing railings and built one of two Dog Houses to cover the Vertical Turbine Pumps. ICU Team installed motor drives in both TOSs. Mounted and started wiring E-stop Control.

The Team made great progress last week and achieved several significant milestones. We are still concerned about the late start on the Tower Operations Site, but with our current progress we have a path to complete all tasks. We are excited to continue our momentum next week.
